“41 Nurseries hold over 210,000 seedlings for the fall.”
Folks,
COVID cases are increasing in Haiti and fear is on the rise. We hear stories of sick people who cannot stay in their homes as communities do not want infected people in their midst.
Luckily, no CODEP people have become sick…. yet. But, hunger is already on the rise. The borders are closed, and food is becoming scarce.
In spite of the chaos and privation of the pandemic, CODEP folk planted 217,000 trees in April and May! And now the 41 nurseries are full of seedlings for the fall planting. Stop for a moment and absorb what this means. Hundreds of thousands of seedlings are being staged in simple, shaded lots where CODEP workers organize them by type and size, hand water them, and transplant into larger containers as they grow. It is phenomenal.
Then, consider that this is being done in the midst of a pandemic!
Please send an extra gift for CODEP at this time. Their needs are simple — food, fertilizer for the trees, and the encouragement that the larger world is watching and caring.
