Folks,

“My family ate eggplant last night!” Jobe’s voice filled my phone. “It was delicious!”

In response to food shortages and the the utter chaos in the markets, Jobe and the other reforestation proteges have planted vegetables at the depot. They put seeds in constructed containers and nurtured them as they had learned to do for tree seedlings.

Now, get this! The eggplant (auborgine) seeds were planted on November 17. Look at your calendar. Gato’s family ate eggplant yesterday, January 25. That’s just over two months from seed to plates.

Now try to imagine how proud and happy our proteges are to show off their skills and provide real food for their families.
